Does Your Dog Chew The Lead?

0

You may well find that your new labrador likes to chew his lead when you’re out on a walk. This is something that Archie did a lot at first, much to my frustration. A friend told me that you can buy a little metal lead extension. The idea being that your dog can’t bite through the metal.

Another tip received was to rub some mustard seed or lemon juice along the lead …the idea being that it tastes horrible so the dog doesn’t chew the lead. I didn’t fancy (or have anyways) the mustard seed but I did try rubbing half a lemon along the lead. Did it work? Nah, not really !

We’ve progressed after some effort to saying Archie, drop the lead and somewhat miraculously he does :) Actually, nowadays he sometimes holds the lead in his mouth and that stops him picking up just about anything he comes into sight line with on the ground.
